- You cannot start roleplaying until your application has been approved. You are more than welcome to join in on the OOC board and chatbox (if one is available).
- No god moding. It will not be tolerated. Your character is not and will not be all powerful. If there is anyone you suspect/know that is god moding, please PM an admin/mod with the link to the thread and the samples of god moding.
- There will be no killing of other's characters unless there is a mutual agreement. You are allowed to harm another person's character, but not kill. And as an rp'er, you can dodge some hits but again YOU CAN BE HIT. Do not block/dodge all attacks.
- When creating characters, no Gary Stus, Mary Sus, yadda yadda you get it...
- Avatars are to be 150 (width) and 300 (height) maximum
- Signatures are to be 400 (width) and 150 (height) maximum
- If a thread reaches NC-17, please modify the title of the first post in the thread to include NC-17.
- Swearing is allowed, naughty jokes, etc.
- PUNCTUATION IS A MUST! No l337 speak, no lol, or whatever. Please separate your dialogue from your actions/paragraphs as much as possible. Be descriptive. NO SHORT THREE LINE POSTS unless you absolutely have NOTHING else to say, PLEASE. Put some thought into your posts, but we understand everyone has their days. I don't expect everyone to be awesome at rp'ing but please try your best. We expect a minimum of 300 words to a post. We're trying to aim to be a slightly more mature, well-thought out rp board
- If there are any complaints to be made, direct them to an admin/mod. It will be reviewed and actions/consequences will be decided. That does not mean actions/consequences will follow, however.
- As of right now, a member will be allowed three (3) playable characters on the board to keep things under wraps. Keep your NPC within manage, we won't set a limit on NPC (Non-playable characters).
- There will be no racism, sexism, any type of prejudices made towards the PLAYER or anyone outside the rp. I understand joking (my boyfriend is black and I often make "racial slurs") amongst friends, poking fun at each other, but keep it tolerable in the forums and the possible Cbox in the future.
- Any pregnancies need to be okay'ed by an admin. (Vampires can't have babies, not on this board, sorry)
- This rp may contain heavy religious themes. If you cannot tolerate this, do not join. That does not mean you cannot bring your own religious themes and points of view into the rp. We encourage it. But accept everyone for who they are, it makes the word unique, and we all have different paths in life.
First offense = Warning
Second offense = A 24 hour ban
Third offense = A week ban
Fourth offense = Permanent ban
We'd like to encourage anyone who has chosen to play as a lycan to flesh out the idea of their own little pack if they have not joined one on the board. (Little pack meaning pack you possibly came from or are currently a part of) Lycans are rarely solitary creatures. (Though through bad circumstance, sometimes they are.) Even the solitary ones came from a pack at some point, almost universally. There is, however, going to be a main pack, run by Astera as Kerberos (Alpha). If joining Madra Allta or any future pack, even a coven, be sure to read Pack Laws set within that pack. And ask permission to join. It's fun to bring members into a pack. For packs to be created on the board, PM Astera about it.
Vampires too, might have covens or other groupings. Often, they'd still have a circle of humans that they closely associate with for various reasons. Anyone who is willing to run the main Coven in the forums, please PM Astera with your ideas and your aims/goals/etc.
Slayers might have a team, as opposed to being solo assassins; even the assassins would have contacts for both equipment and information.
Feel free to flesh out your npc's, particularly if you think they might play a role in your posts.
If you plan to make them prominent in a thread, I'm sure all of us would like at the very least, a physical description to refer to. Pictures work as well.
While we all like having attractive folks for the playby's/avatars, NPC faces are not "claimed". If you want to use Angelina Jolie for your npc, that's fine...just understand that if someone makes a character for the game, and chooses Angelina, your npc can't look like Angelina any more.
We're going to be somewhat restrictive, at least initially, as far as how many full-fledged characters you can have. Obviously, exceptions can be made, but that's purely on a case by case basis, decided by any admin.
What both of us have found on virtually every site is a full fledged character being made solely for a very brief idea. The problem being is that they get a whole lot of attention while the other main characters suffer, get involved in threads, and then disappear when the muse peters out, leaving a lot of things hanging.
NPC's at least clear a certain amount of that away. At this point, we're not really capping the amount of NPC's you can have, although obviously there are limits. Standard rule of an NPC applies; if one of your mains isn't there at least in the background of the scene, you shouldn't be posting a purely NPC thread. They wouldn't have a reason to be there without the character they're associated with.
The obvious exception would be if you've given permission for someone else to write/include your npc in interactions without you there.
If you find the NPC taking on a life of his/her own, then perhaps you might consider making them a full timer.
NPC's allow you to take an idea, and see how far you can run with it. If you find yourself rather constantly writing an NPC into scenes, and that others like the NPC, that's another sign they're becoming a main character. Think of it like a tv show when new characters are introduced. You don't see totally new and major characters dropped in without warning. The actors often appear in short bursts, and are eased into prominence, or have a very prominent episode, and are fairly minor for a few shows before becoming true regulars.
But we like the idea of a lot of NPC's. The goal here is to in the end have a living world, full of both major and minor interactions. So run with it. Show us what you have.
